Kuråsen (Kuraasen) Farm
Farm number(gnr) 19, Sub-farm number(bnr) 4
The Kuråsen farm is one of the oldest in Røros. It is located just northeast of Røros near Glåmos. In 1665 it had a debt of 6 marklag (an old measurement) and had three farmers. In the 1665 census one of the farmers was Hans Olsen Kurås, allodial owner, born 1595. Hans died before the 1700 census. He had a son Joen Hansen Kurås (abt 1616 - 1675) who became heir to the entire farm. His son Ole Joensen Kurås (1642-1725) became the heir to the farm at his father's death. In 1725 at the death of Ole Joensen Kurås, the farm was divided between his two sons Iver Olsen Kurås (1678 - 1771) and Jon Olsen Kurås. Iver inherited the part that includes this farm (Kurås, farm 19, sub-farm 4). Iver married Cornelia Jacobsdatter Prytz (1681-1743). They had four children. The third child was Jacob Iversen Kurås (1722 - 1799)) who married Marit Arnesdatter (1729 - 1814) in 1749 and farmed at Nyplassen farm.
This chart shows my relationship to my ancestors from the Kuråsen farm. There were several marriages of my ancestors between this farm and the Bakken farm tying me to these two farms in several ways.
